If you’re going through a bathroom remodel in your home, it’s important for you to do some research into the types of materials and products that will provide you with the best results when it comes to waterproofing and heating.

At Tri City Remodeling, we are pleased to be dealers of Schluter Systems products. Here’s just a quick overview of some of the types of products you might find useful in your upcoming bathroom remodel, particularly when you work with a general contractor in Midland, MI from our team.

Floor warming

Heated floors are becoming a more popular option in new bathrooms and remodeling projects. You can combine the durability and beauty of tile with the comfort of an electric floor warming system, offering a brand new touch of luxury into any part of your home. You can easily run the cables wherever you wish to have a heated floor to create customized heating zones, and no leveling compounds are needed for the process, making installation easy.

Schluter’s products here are under the DITRA-HEAT line. The main DITRA-HEAT product features a combination of a customizable electric warming system with the waterproofing, vapor management, uncoupling and support you expect out of Schluter products. There are a variety of variations available, including the DITRA-HEAT-DUO (a version of the uncoupling membrane that has integrated sound control and thermal break, an all-inclusive kit and a programmable Wi-Fi thermostat.

Waterproofing

We are also pleased to provide a wide variety of waterproofing materials you’ll find convenient in your bathroom remodel. The KERDI and KERDI-DS waterproofing membranes offer much-needed protection (and some nice peace of mind) for you behind the walls of your shower and any other tiled elements you have that are subject to moisture. These are waterproof membranes and vapor barriers that are pliable and sheet-applied and have limited crack-bridging capabilities.

You’ll find many different home accessories made out of KERDI, including waterproofing strips, seamless corners and pipe and mixing valve seals. These products all help you complete the waterproofing process with ease to ensure you’ve done everything you possibly can to protect your shower or bath against the development of mildew and mold.

One example of such a project is KERDI-BOARD, a multifunctional tile substrate and building panel that is frequently used in bonded waterproofing assemblies with tile. Using KERDI-BOARD, you can easily build up tile-ready areas in your showers, bathtub surrounds and platforms, vanities, countertops and more.

You’ve also got KERDI-DS, a bonded waterproofing membrane and vapor batter that has extremely low water permeance. This helps eliminate water damage that can result in mildew and mold, and is ideally used in steam rooms and other similar applications.

Finally, KERDI-SEAL provides pre-fabricated membranes and moisture barriers for areas around pipe protrusions and valves.
